This presentation is part of Nature Nova Scotia's AGM. This presentation is followed by an afternoon butterfly outing starting at 1:00PM (see details below). There is no fee to attend just the butterfly presentation and outing, however if you'd like to attend other AGM events you need to register. See http://naturens.ca/node/80 for details.

Butterfly Atlas Workshops

Date: May 26, 2012
Time: Starts at 1:00PM. There is no definite end time, it will likely last 2-3 hours.
Where: Tatamagouche Centre
Description: Join John Klymko for a survey around the Tatamagouche Centre. You will learn how to make a voucher specimen, how to photograph butterflies for the Atlas, and how to fill out data sheets, all while learning about butterflies. If you have atlas equipment from previous presentations or workshops bring it along. Kits will be available to anyone else who would like to participate (participation is free, though a $20 donation for each kit is encouraged).
This event is part of the larger Nature Nova Scotia AGM (http://naturens.ca/node/80), and is preceded by a butterfly presentation at 9AM (see details above). There is no fee to attend just the butterfly presentation and outing, however if you'd like to attend other AGM events you need to register. See http://naturens.ca/node/80 for details.
If you are not attending the Nature NS AGM and would like to participate in the outing please register with John Klymko (jklymko@mta.ca). If the event is cancelled due to bad weather he will let you know the afternoon of Friday May 25.

Date: June 30, 2012 (originally June 23, but postponed due to bad weather)
Time: 9:30AM-2:00PM
Where: Meet at the Wolfville Waterfont.
Description: Join Jim Edsall (jim.edsall@bellaliant.net) for a brief overview of the atlas project, followed by a survey of a nearby area that will have a good chance for finding butterflies and help add data to the atlas. You will learn how to make a voucher specimen, how to photograph butterflies for the atlas, and how to fill out data sheets. If you have atlas equipment from previous presentations or workshops bring it along. Kits will be available to anyone else who would like to participate (participation is free, though a $20 donation for each kit is encouraged). This free workshop starts at 10:00 AM at the Wolfville waterfront. The outing will end at approximately 2:00 PM. Bring a lunch and appropriate clothing for a day outside. The event will go ahead only if the forecast is for warm sunny weather. Please register by contacting Jim (jim.edsall@bellaliant.net), so you can be notified in case of cancellation.

Date: July 23, 2012
Time: Starts at 6:30PM. Will go until about 9:00PM
Where: Daly Point Nature Reserve (2075 Carron Drive Bathurst, New Brunswick) Description: John Klymko will give a brief presentation on the Maritimes Butterfly Atlas, then lead a butterfly walk at the Daly Point Nature Reserve. Butterfly atlas kits will be available to anyone who would like to participate in the project (participation is free, though a $20 donation for each kit is encouraged). The event will go ahead only if the forecast is for warm sunny weather. Please register by contacting Janet Doucet (janetdoucet@gmail.com). This event was originally scheduled for July 16 but has been postponed due to weather.
